2. Core Clinical & Technical Responsibilities

Clinical laboratory technologists typically earn a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), or a life science degree followed by a 12-month NAACLS-accredited hospital-based MLS clinical program.

Coursework covers organic and analytical chemistry, immunology, hematology, medical microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and laboratory management, paired with 6 to 12 months of structured clinical rotations through every department of a hospital laboratory.
